Favor Smith joined Flink Smith on an “of counsel” basis in 2004, when the firm opened its Lake Placid office in the same building and space where Favor had maintained his firm for close to 40 years. Favor has been one of the most well-known and respected lawyers in the northern Adirondacks, where he practiced law in his home town of Lake Placid after a several year stint practicing law in San Francisco. Favor and Ed Flink were introduced to each other in 2004 by Charley Walsh, another Lake Placid fixture on the legal scene, and they developed a quick affinity for each other, leading to their decision to join forces and use Favor’s office, reputation and client base, to help Flink Smith expand its already established and growing North Country practice.
Favor graduated from Cornell University and Albany Law School. He was admitted to practice in the State of New York 40 years ago.
At the current time, Favor is fairly jealous of his time, and limits his active practice to the handling of real estate and discrete matters. He is available, however, to speak to clients about their interests and concerns and help transition the work to Ed and the other members of the firm who, by design, are able to help Favor’s clients and friends with all of their legal opportunities and needs. Favor also consults regularly with Ed and the firm’s other attorneys on those matters where his experience and perspective can help the firm achieve more favorable outcomes, more expeditiously than might occur without the benefit of his input. Favor is “online” when at home and in South Carolina where he recently purchased a second home.
